Portuguese stone

Portuguese stone, or Portuguese pavement, is a traditional-style pavement used for many pedestrian areas in Portugal and throughout former Portuguese colonies Brasil). It consists of small flat pieces of stones arranged in a pattern or image, like a mosaic.

Pieces are irregular, in size 2” to 4” on each side, and the color is mostly black and white, from basalt and limestone.

Installation is very difficult and require high craftmanship, being more similar to mosaic installation than stone installation.
